The Mt Zero Picnic Area makes a fantastic base for a day of adventure in the northern Grampians. The picnic area is well equipped with picnic tables, wood fire barbecues, toilets and water taps, and several fantastic walks start out from here. 

Enjoy a picnic or barbecue lunch surrounded by scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges, then head out for a walk to Mt Zero, Mt Stapylton, or Flat Rock.

  • Distance: 2.8 km return
  • Time: 1 - 1.5 hrs
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Starting point: Mt Zero Picnic Area
Walk to Mt Stapylton Summit
  • Distance: 4.6 km return
  • Time: 2 - 2.5 hrs
  • Difficulty: Moderate / hard - steep sections, slippery rock hopping, water crossings, rock scrambling
  • Starting point: Mt Zero Picnic Area
Walk to Flat Rock
  • Distance: 1 km return
  • Time: 45 mins - 1 hrs
  • Difficulty: Moderate - steep uphill track
  • Starting point: Mt Zero Picnic Area
