The Sundial Carpark lies at the end of Sundial Road in the Grampians National Park and makes a great base for a day of adventure. The Sundial Carpark features multiple stunning walks, picnic tables, information signs and drop toilets. 

A wall of beautiful rock stands strikingly beside the entrance to the carpark and lush greenery surrounds the peaceful picnic area.

The Sundial Carpark is well known for offering the easiest walk option to the spectacular Pinnacle Lookout.

Discover the wonderland range

The following text is displayed on a Parks VIC information sign at the Sundial Carpark:

The majestic sandstone ridges of the Wonderland Range are over 430 million years old. Their leaning character and hard sandstone nature were formed after thick layers of sediments were intensely heated and folded and eventually thrust  up from under the earth.

After years of weather the Wonderland Range stands unique and inviting; it is a fantastic area to explore by foot. The diversity of spring wildflowers, wet weather waterfalls and rocky mountain peaks can be accessed from numerous walking tracks.

Be safe be prepared
  • Stay on open walking tracks only and always carry an up to date map
  • Always carry drinking water and food
  • A hate and sunscreen are essential in summer
  • Keep to the walking tracks. Please supervise children at all times
  • Take care on uneven and slippery track surfaces
  • Always wear sturdy footwear with a good tread
  • Plan your timing. Ensure your return from walking well before dusk
  • Seasonal storm damage, bushfire or ongoing track maintenance can alter track conditions or cause temporary closures. Please check at a local Visitor Information Centre and Brambuk the National Park and Cultural Centre.
  • There are steep cliffs, mind your footing and always keep to the tracks
  • Please supervise children at all times
  • Due to cloud cover and fog cliff edges may be closer than they appear
  • Tracks may involve rock steps, uneven and slippery surfaces, water crossings and rock hopping

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Points of interest: Pretty views along the walk, Pinnacle Lookout
  • Easiest walk to reach The Pinnacle, best option if bringing children
Lakeview Lookout
  • Distance: 1.2 km return
  • Time: 30 - 50 mins
  • Starting point: Sundial Carpark
  • Difficulty: Easy (some steps)
  • Points of interest: Beautiful rock formations, scenic lookout over Lake Bellfield
Sundial Peak
  • Distance: 4.2 km return
  • Time: 1.5 - 2 hrs
  • Starting point: Sundial Carpark
  • Difficulty: Moderate (rock steps, steep sections, slippery track surfaces)
  • Points of interest: Beautiful views to The Pinnacle and across to Mt Rosea.
  • Distance: 5.3 km one way (10.6 km return)

  • There are countless fantastic walking tracks throughout the Grampians National Park, allowing visitors to explore and appreciate all aspects of this amazing place. From short, scenic strolls to epic multi-day adventures, the Grampians has got it all.
  • There are many fantastic picnic areas within the Grampians National Park - some are day visit areas of the park's campgrounds, others such as Zumsteins and Mt Zero are dedicated picnic areas with their own incredible walks and attractions.
